Entries are limited to 50 participants

Cradle Ultra-Trail (CUT50) runners will start their journey at 06H00. The route is challenging yet filled with historical significance. It kicks off with a gradual downhill, where runners can warm up their legs and settle their nerves. The route takes you past a British Single-Manned Fort, over a 500-million-year-old contact zone between the Kaap Vaal and Black Reefs. Runners will then head up the Dolomites, which contains fossils and sink holes, to Mountain View, down into Panorama View, onto Kudu Drive with views of Malapa Valley below. After passing an 80m deep sinkhole, runners continue to climb and will be able to see Hartbeespoort in the distance. They then make their way down into Wild Animals Road and past the Tufa dig site and Uit-komste cave, which is the site of a 350-year-old Iron Age Copper Smelter. The Zimbabwe Ruins Road takes runners past the River Horse Lodge and down through Gladice Vale valley to Dassie Rock and up along Skuwerberg with views of the Hartbeespoort Tracking Station that was used to communicate with the Apollo space missions. This is the furthest point along the route and runners will then make their way back down along Grand Dam, past the Unmarked Soldiers Grave, up Oribi Hill Road and around Aloe Cave where lime kilns were used in the JHB Gold Rush during the 1900’s. The final climb gives you a view over JHB in the distance before a fast descent to the finish line.
